Troubleshooting: How to reset BIMcollab Zoom to a default state

Resolve errors by running a command in BIMcollab Zoom to return it to a state as if it were a new install.

Updated over 2 months ago

If you are experiencing issues with BIMcollab Zoom, using the !reset command can restore the software to its default state. This can help resolve various problems by clearing settings and resources.

What does the !reset command do?

When you enter the !reset command in the search bar, the following changes occur:

  1. Logs you out of your BIMcollab ID
Required for the initial activation of BIMcollab Zoom, this ensures you can re-authenticate if needed.

  2. Removes your license credential information
If you need to troubleshoot BIMcollab Zoom licensing issues, resetting ensures a fresh start.

  3. Clears your local resources
Any Smart Views, Conflicts, or Lists you have created yourself will be removed and replaced with the example resources.

  4. Clears the WebViewer model cache
This helps if models are not displaying correctly from the WebViewer. (This can also be done in the settings window)

  5. Resets all settings to the default
Any changes to the interface, preferences, or configurations will be reverted.

  6. Creates a backup ZIP file of your settings and resources
If you need to restore any settings or local resources after the reset, these can be retrieved from the ZIP file.

📝 Note: If you have a BIMcollab Zoom license, you can reimport your local Smart Views, Lists, and Conflicts again from the generated backup file.
