What is new in BIMcollab

New features of BIMcollab, including assigning licenses, project codes, and new team member roles.

Updated over 3 months ago

BIMcollab has some exciting new features available. However, pay attention to the small changes to your workflow to make the most of them.

Admin changes

Assigning licenses

Depending on which BIMcollab module you would like a user to have access to, you now need to assign a license to them. The different licenses allow your users to do the following:

  • Twin license: access the Dashboard (for documents), Documents and To do tabs in their projects.

  • Nexus license: access the Dashboard (for Issues), Issues and Checking tabs in their projects.

  • Zoom license: retrieve a BIMcollab Zoom license.

As an admin, you can do this by going to the Space Administration page, and editing a user from the Users tab.

📝 Note: What does this mean for existing users? For users that are already in your BIMcollab Nexus space, they will automatically be assigned a Nexus license once your space is updated with the new features.

⚠️ Attention: What does this mean for new users? For any new users that you add to your space, you will need to manually assign them a license after adding them.

Other Admin changes

If you add a new user, next to 'first name', 'last name' and the 'email adress', the 'company' is now also mandatory.

Project changes

Project code

Project codes are now mandatory for all project. When creating a new project, a code will be generated automatically using the first three letters of the project name.

It is always possible to edit this from the General project settings page.
Go to the your project's Settings > General > Project code.

📝 Note: What does this mean for existing projects? Just like a new project, a project code will be automatically generated for your existing projects based on the first three letters of the current project name.
If the code from the first three letters already exists, a number will be added to it, counting up for every subsequent duplicate.

Team member roles

In each project, you will find new project level roles available depending on your subscription.
These include: Editor for issues, Editor for documents and Reviewer for issues (previously 'Reviewer').
In this table, you can find the different rights that belong to the roles.
