Retrieve a ZOOM license

Retrieve a ZOOM license

When a BIMcollab ZOOM license is available for you (as a personal license, or a company license), you can retrieve the license to make use of ZOOM's full potential.
There are two different license types, which can be retrieved in different ways:

Company licenses

Company licenses are floating licenses, connected to a private space, which can be used by multiple users.
To be able to use a floating BIMcollab ZOOM license, you need to be added to a license pool in your private space. For each license in the pool, a maximum of 4 users can be added to the pool.
You can find more information on how to manage BIMcollab ZOOM licenses as an administrator in the article Manage BIMcollab ZOOM licenses in BIMcollab
Follow these steps to retrieve a ZOOM license from a private space:
  1. Go to Extra > Settings > License
  2. Under 'License type', select 'Company license'
  3. In the field 'BIMcollab', fill in the URL of your private space
  4. Fill in your login credentials for the space
  5. Click on 'Obtain' to retrieve the license

BIMcollab ZOOM needs internet access to retrieve your license. To be able to use your license offline, choose an amount of days up to 7 in the field 'License borrow'.
For a Company license, this option is only available when the administrator has enabled the option 'Allow to borrow' in the license pool.
The license will not be available to other users in the license pool for this period of time.

When you obtain a license, it will be available to you as long as you are using BIMcollab ZOOM. When you close BIMcollab ZOOM, the license will be automatically released, and will be available for other users in the license pool, as long as you have not borrowed the license.
If at any given time you need to relinquish your license without closing BIMcollab ZOOM or before the borrowing period is over, go to Extra > Settings > Licensing and click 'Release'.

The next time you open BIMcollab ZOOM, it will automatically try to retrieve a license from the space you retrieved the license from the first time.

Personal licenses

If you have a Personal license, the license is connected to your BIMcollab ID.

Follow these steps to retrieve a personal ZOOM license:
  1. Open BIMcollab ZOOM and click on the Connection icon
  2. Connect to your free project on join.bimcollab.com, as explained in the article Connect to BIMcollab Cloud from BCF managers or BIMcollab ZOOM
If a license is connected to your BIMcollab ID, you will automatically receive your license.

If you are connected to a different space in which no license is available for you, you can still use your Personal license.
  1. Go to Extra > Settings > License
  2. Under 'License type', select 'Personal license'
  3. Under 'License credentials', fill in the login credentials for your BIMcollab ID (these are the same credentials you use to connect to your free project on join.bimcollab.com)
  4. Click on 'Obtain' to retrieve the license

BIMcollab ZOOM needs internet access to be able to retrieve your license. To be able to use your license offline, select 'Borrow license for' and choose an amount of days up to 7.
The next time you open BIMcollab ZOOM, it will automatically try to retrieve a license in the same way you have retrieved it before.
The space and credentials which are filled in in the Settings window of BIMcollab ZOOM will be used by default.
