Get started with BCF Manager Navisworks

This Quick Start Guide describes the basic online workflow of the BCF Manager for Navisworks. It will get you up and running in no time.

The BCF Manager for Navisworks is available for Navisworks Manage and Simulate.

Online workflow BCF Manager

  1. Start Navisworks

  2. Load the model(s) for which you want to create or review issues in Navisworks

  3. Choose the BIMcollab tab in the ribbon

  4. Click on the BCF manager icon to open the BIMcollab BCF manager pop-up window


    If you are a first time user, you first need to Activate your BCF Manager

  5. Connect to a project on BIMcollab from the BCF Manager (1)

  6. If there are already issues present in the project you connect to, they will be displayed in the issue list (2)

  7. Create new issues manually (3), or import issues from clashes and saved viewpoints in Navisworks (4)

  8. Select issues in the issue list to see its details (6).

  9. When an issue is selected, you can quick edit it (6), or add a new comment to it (7)

  10. Double click the issue to zoom to its viewpoint in the model in Navisworks

  11. When you have made all the necessary changes, synchronize the project to BIMcollab, to share the issues with your team members (8)

⚠️ Warning: IFC GUIDs in models appended from Autodesk Construction Cloud via the Coordination add-in may differ from those generated by the BCF Manager. This is caused by the conversion method used during the append process and can result in issues not being linked to the correct components.

👉 To prevent this, please avoid using this model loading method.

The BCF Manager window

  1. Import and save a BCF file

  2. Synchronize project

  3. Search

  4. BCF options

  5. Name of the project you are connected to

  6. Active filter and Filter issues

  7. Issue list

  8. Import Issues

  9. Add viewpoint to the comment (only visible when comment is selected)

  10. Edit snapshot of the comment (only visible when comment is selected)

  11. Delete viewpoint of the comment (only visible when comment is selected)

  12. Viewpoint information

  13. Show snapshot of the selected issue or comment

  14. When an issue is selected: Description of the issue
    When a comment is selected: Edit the selected comment

  15. Snapshot of the selected issue

  16. Quick edit of the selected issue

  17. Add a comment

  18. View comments of the selected issue

  19. View details of the selected issue

  20. Comments or details of the selected issue
