Setup Custom issue fields

BIMcollab allows you to define custom fields which can be used to add additional information to the issues in a project.

⚠️ Note: This feature is not available on all plans. To check if it’s included in your subscription, review the [plan comparison list] or contact your admin. If the feature isn’t available, you may need to upgrade your plan.

Setting up these custom fields for issues can only be done by a project leader.


In total, there are 4 customizable fields that can used:

  • 2x list fields that can be used to select a predefined value

  • 2x text fields that can be used to enter free-form text

As a project leader, you can choose which of these fields are available for the project and can set project-specific names and values for them.

Activate the Custom fields for the issues in the project

  1. From your 'My projects' page, select the project and go to the Settings page

  2. Go to the tab 'General'


  3. Enable the checkboxes in front of the Custom fields which you want to use in the project

  4. Save the project settings

General configuration

  1. From the same Settings page in the BIMcollab project, click on the Issue 'Management' tab

  2. Click on the 'Custom' tab

  3. Enter the titles of the fields you want to use

  4. Click 'Save' next to the edited title

Text custom field configuration

The text fields can be immediately used.

List fields configuration

If you are making use of the list fields you can add the values for that field:

  1. Click on the field’s add value button

  2. Type the first value name.
    Every next value, you can add in a new line in the same text field. To start a new line, press the Enter key on your keyboard. When you are done adding all values, click Create.

Once the custom fields have been set up, they will be available in the issue menu when creating and reviewing issues. The list fields can also be used when filtering specific issues.
