BIMcollab Hosting type and On-Premise Policy

Overview of the BIMcollab’s hosting types and the phase-out of On-premise support.

Updated yesterday

Overview of BIMcollab Hosting Options

BIMcollab delivers its SaaS solutions through a cloud-based architecture designed for security, scalability, and continuous improvement.

Currently we support two ways to deliver our SAAS software:

  1. Multi-tenant in the cloud: multiple clients share resources in the cloud in our datacenters to use our services. This is the most widely used solution, and our current and future standard offering.
BIMcollab’s services are hosted in the cloud, where multiple customers share infrastructure in BIMcollab’s datacenters. This is the only hosting option available for new customers and the focus of all current and future product development.

  2. On-Premise (Existing Customers Only)
On-premise installations run on customer-owned infrastructure.
⚠️ This option is no longer available for purchase, it exist only for customers who already have an on-premise installation. New on-premise installations or licenses cannot be purchased.

End of Development for On-Premise

BIMcollab has discontinued development of the on-premise solution for BIMcollab Spaces. Maintaining on-premise deployments limits innovation, increases operational complexity, and prevents the adoption of modern technologies and security standards.

  • The final on-premise update was released in 2025.

  • After this release, no further updates, features, or improvements will be provided.

  • The on-premise solution will remain available on an “as-is” basis.

What This Means for Existing On-Premise Customers

  • Existing customers may continue using their current on-premise installation.

  • The number of users in an existing on-premise environment can still be increased.

  • No new on-premise licenses or environments can be purchased.

  • BIMcollab will support customers in migrating to the cloud.

Why Move from On-Premise to the Cloud?

Migrating to BIMcollab’s cloud solution offers clear advantages:

  • Continuously updated security and compliance

  • Immediate access to all new BIMcollab features

  • Reduced infrastructure and maintenance costs

  • No need to manage or maintain servers

Migration Options

Existing on-premise customers can migrate to the standard BIMcollab cloud environment at any time. BIMcollab will provide guidance and support throughout the migration process.
