Setup Lists in BIMcollab Zoom

Setup Lists in BIMcollab Zoom

Lists are used to extract information from IFC models and to share these results within a project.
BIMcollab Zoom users with a license and Zoom editing rights can create and edit lists.

Creating a new List

  1. Start BIMcollab Zoom with an active license
  2. Select the Lists panel
  3. Expand 'Local' or 'Shared' and select an list set in which you want to create the new List.
If necessary, you can create a new list set by clicking the [+] button. It will be automatically selected once created
All lists must be added to a list set
  4. Click the [+] button again to create a new list inside the selected list set

When you want to create a list in 'Shared', make sure you are connected to the correct space and project
You can share Lists with your team, you can do so by dragging and dropping Lists from 'Local' to 'Shared', or by immediately creating the List in 'Shared'. To do this you have to be connected to a project where you have Zoom editing rights.

When creating a new list you can edit the following fields:
    1. Name
Give your list a clear and unique name.
    2. List Type
Choose the type of list you want to create. For more information on the different list types and their, consult the article The different types of Lists.
      The different types are:
      1. Property table
      2. Pivot grid
      3. Dashboard data (in shared folder only)
    3. Source set
Define a set of components which will be used as your source set by filtering them out by defining rules. The filter works similarly to that of the Smart Views. Each rule exists of:
      1. An Element type you want to add to the set (e.g. walls, doors, columns)
      2. A Property, Operator and Value to be used to filter out elements with a specific property value
      3. An action which defines whether the elements found should be added or removed from the set, and if they should get an override
Test the set by clicking on the play button to show the selected set.
    4. Include parts
Choose whether you want to include data from sub-components in your lists results.
Sub-components are individual parts of a larger composition. This is common in assemblies like curtain walls made up of parts, and container elements like spaces or building storeys. Working with sub-components can have a big impact in your lists results.
    5. Properties
Select which properties are to be used in the list.
    6. Description
Provide the list with a clear description so its purpose is easily identifiable.
  5. Click on 'Save'
  6. Once the List has been created, you can show the results in the list results panel at the bottom of the screen
  1. Double-click or use the Run button to execute a selected List (group)
  2. Right-click on a list to run on components in My view

You can share the list results with your team either by publishing these online to your Nexus project, or by exporting these to Excel or CSV format.
You can refer to this article to learn how to do so: Share results of Lists with my team members
You can access shared list results on the BIMcollab Model WebViewer, allowing you to view them alongside your IFC file on BIMcollab Nexus

Edit or Remove a list

You can always edit a list set or individual list at a later stage by selecting the one you are interested in and then clicking on the button.
Similarly, to remove a list set or list, select the one you are interested in and then select the button.

Import and Export lists

It is also possible to import and export your lists should you wish to share your list definitions with other team members.
  1. Go to the 'Lists' tab in BIMcollab Zoom
  2. Click ‘Import’ to add the Lists

Although there are some examples of lists in the example project, even more examples of what can be done with lists are available for download here.
Users require a BIMcollab Zoom license to be able to import and export lists.
