In BIMcollab Nexus, several properties are used to classify and organise Issues, including Status, Type, Priority, Labels. However, these properties may not always have direct equivalents in other software, which can sometimes result in information loss when exchanging data.
To prevent mapping issues, be mindful of the differences in properties between the platform where the BCF file originates and BIMcollab Nexus. If possible, ensure that the properties are aligned or standardized across both platforms. This will help maintain consistency and prevent potential issues with property mapping.
This article will guide you on aligning the necessary properties in Trimble Connect and Autodesk Docs to ensure seamless
import into BIMcollab.
Status
Issue statuses are used to track the progress of Issue in BIMcollab Nexus, and there are three available status options: Active, Resolved, and Closed. These are fixed, which means that users are unable to add a new status or modify the existing ones.
As a result, when importing BCF files from Trimble Connect containing Issues (Topics) with additional statuses beyond the listed three, those statuses will not be recognized. Instead, they may be mapped to one of the three existing statuses. This also extends to the other properties in BIMcollab Nexus such as the Label (Tag), issue types and priority.
To ensure seamless mapping of Issue statuses when importing your BCF file in BIMcollab Nexus, we recommend setting up the same status options - Active, Resolved, and Closed in Trimble Connect. By aligning these status caetgories in both platforms, you can help retain the status information for each issue during the import process.
Priority
While you cannot create new Priority types, the Priority property in BIMcollab Nexus is customizable, enabling you to modify existing priorities to correspond with those established in Trimble Connect. You can edit them by clicking on their name in the Project settings > Priorities. Alternatively, you can adjust the priorities in Trimble Connect to align with those in BIMcollab Nexus for consistent mapping.
Type
The Type property in BIMcollab Nexus is flexible, which means you can add new entries and edit existing ones. Any Topic Types used in Trimble Connect should also be manually created in BIMcollab Nexus.
Label (Tag)
Labels provide more freedom in classifying issues. They can be used to mark the different disciplines and other things. In BIMcollab Nexus, Labels function similarly to Tags in Trimble Connect.
However, unlike some properties, Labels are not automatically created when importing from Trimble Connect. To ensure accurate mapping, any Tags used in Trimble Connect should also be manually created as a Label in BIMcollab Nexus. This step will help maintain consistency and ensure the information transfers correctly between platforms.
Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
(Model Coordination Issues)
Status
Within ACC, there are several status options available, some of which do not have a direct equivalent in BIMcollab Nexus. All issues are imported into BIMcollab Nexus as Active, unless they are explicitly defined as Closed in ACC.
Type
All issue types in ACC are imported into BIMcollab Nexus under the type "Issue", regardless of their original issue type.
