How are annotations positioned in 3D?

To add an annotation to the 3D view in BIMcollab Zoom, click the 'Annotations' button in the menu bar, and choose the kind of annotation you would like to use.

When placing a text annotation, the first point clicked will represent the bottom left corner of the text box. A dialog box will appear in which you can enter the preferred text.

Once you have chosen the kind of annotation you would like to place, your cursor will turn into a pencil, and you can choose where to locate the annotation.
The orientation of the annotation depends on where you click in the 3D view.
When the first click is:
  • On an object: the annotation will be in same plane as the clicked surface
  • In the air: the annotation will be in the plane facing the camera from the clicked point
  • With Shift key pressed, the annotation will always be in the plane facing the camera from the clicked point
The size and position of the annotation can be changed later.
