Explore the example project
Give BIMcollab a try and access the example project to see how you can add or edit issues, regardless of the used platform. All you need to do is follow these steps.
Do you prefer more hands-on learning? Go to BIMcollab Academy and enroll in the
BIMcollab Nexus course. This course goes in-depth on the topic of this article, and after finishing the course, you will be able to navigate the web application well.
Using the web application
The example project is accessible from every account within a Nexus Trial space. If you do not have one yet, you can make one on behalf of your company or team here: 30 day Nexus Trial
- In your web browser, navigate to the URL of your Nexus Trial space "https://example.bimcollab.com/"
- Log in using your credentials
- On the 'My Projects' page, click on the BIMcollab Example project
- Here you can start creating issues
You can also follow the 'Get Started' feature from a button on the bottom right corner. This feature can take you along to the different parts of the web application and familiarize you with the available options.
Using BIMcollab Zoom
- Download and install BIMcollab Zoom from here
- Open a file via the button or the menu File > Open.
- Select the ‘BIMcollab Example Project’ .bcp file, which can be found in the path below:
Windows: C:/Users/Public/Documents/BIMcollab Zoom/Sample
Mac: Applications/BIMcollab Zoom/Sample
BIMcollab Zoom will initially default to the folder containing the sample project. - Click on the ‘Connect’ button (1)
- Fill in the BIMcollab field using your private or Trial Nexus space URL: example.bimcollab.com (2)
- Choose 'Connect' (3)
- Fill in your credentials. (4)
- Select the ‘BIMcollab project' (5)
- Click OK (6)
Go to the issues panel to start making your first issues.

Using Navisworks
- Download the example IFC files here. You can also immediately download an example Navisworks model
- Download the BCF Manager for Navisworks here and install
- Start Navisworks and append all of the IFC files to a new Navisworks model, or open the example NWD file
- In the menu go to BIMcollab > BCF Manager
- In the BCF Manager click on the ‘Connect’ button
- Fill in the following information:
- BIMcollab: your Nexus Trial space URL - example.bimcollab.com
- Your email address
- Your password
- Click 'Connect'
- Select the ‘BIMcollab project'
Click on any issue in the BCF Manager to see its details or double-click on it to zoom to the issue in the 3D Model.
Using Solibri
- Download the example IFC files here. You can also download example Solibri models
- Add all of the IFC files to a new Solibri model, or open the SMC files
- Consult the article Connect from Solibri and follow the steps to establish a connection to BIMcollab
- When adding a server, enter your Nexus Trial space URL https://example.bimcollab.com/ and select the ‘BIMcollab project’ as your project
You can now click on any issue in the BCF Connector to see its details as well as the view in 3D.
Using Revit
- Download the example Revit model here
- Download the BCF Manager for Revit here and install
- Start Revit and open the example RVT file
- In the menu go to BIMcollab > BCF Manager
- In the BCF Manager click on the ‘Connect’ button
- Fill in the following information:
- BIMcollab: your Nexus Trial space URL - example.bimcollab.com
- Your email address
- Your password
- Click 'Connect'
- Select the ‘BIMcollab project”
You can now click on any issue in the BCF Manager to see its details or double-click on it to zoom to the issue in the 3D Model.
Using Archicad
- Download the example Archicad model here
- Download the BCF Manager for Archicad here and install
- Start Archicad and open the example PLA file
- In the menu go to BIMcollab > BCF Manager
- In the BCF Manager click on the ‘Connect’ button
- Fill in the following information:
- BIMcollab: your Nexus Trial space URL - example.bimcollab.com
- Your email address
- Your password
- Click 'Connect'
- Select the ‘BIMcollab project”
You can now click on any issue in the BCF Manager to see its details or double-click on it to zoom to the issue in the 3D Model.
