Delete metadata

Delete metadata

In BIMcollab Twin, metadata helps you organize and classify your project documents. You can now manage your metadata more effectively by editing and deleting entry values from the options list. This article explains how to delete values and outlines important considerations to keep your metadata consistent.

Editing and Deleting Entries

Space administrators can edit and delete entries from overview page of each metadata option. To do so, start from the administrator page, click on the Settings tab (1) and select the required metadata category (2).
You can find the edit and delete icons in the far-right side , as well as additional information, such as the number of Workflows and Documents this specific entry is used in.

Alert
You cannot delete the last remaining entry. There must always be at least one option in the list.

Deleting Action Considerations

Deleting metadata entry already present in your space may have consequences for your project. Here are some guidelines to consider to ensure the integrity of your workflows and documents. When you click the delete button, a dialog message will inform you of the implications of this action, ensuring you understand the consequences before proceeding.

1. Not used values: entry that is not used in any workflows or not assigned to any documents can be deleted. The confirmation message like below will be displayed.

2. Values assigned to documents: entries that are assigned to documents can still be deleted, but the field in the document will be empty and can be added manually.

3. Values assigned to a workflow: If metadata is used in a workflow, you cannot delete it. You will receive a notification indicating that deletion is not allowed, and a list of workflows the value is present in.
