Pins allow issues and conflicts to be visualized directly in the 3D model in the BIMcollab WebViewer. This helps users understand where issues occur in the model, identify high concentration areas, and navigate directly from the model to related issues.
Issue and conflict pins are visually represented differently in the WebViewer.
Issue pins
Displayed with a larger circle marker.
Represent the location of an issue.
Conflict pins
Displayed with a smaller circle marker.
Represent active conflicts linked to Smart Issues.
Resolved, ignored, or otherwise inactive conflicts do not appear as conflict pins.
The color of the issue pin corresponds to the associated issue status, and for conflict pins, only active conflicts are displayed (orange color).
Issue pins
Issue pins represent the location of regular issues in the 3D model. Smart Issues are not displayed as issue pins. Instead, Smart Issues are represented by the conflict pins of their linked active conflicts.
For issues linked to one or two model components, the pin location is calculated automatically and an issue pin is displayed. Issues linked to more than two components, or issues that are not linked to model components, do not receive an automatic location. For these issues, a location can be added manually to display a pin.
Click on the issue's three lines icon, and select Set issue location. Click anywhere in the model to select the issue location and place a pin.
If an issue already has a location, the Set issue location option can also be used to move the pin to a different location in the model.
Issues created the WebViewer model view automatically receive a pin location. Right-click on the model component, and select Create issue pin. The issue is created with a current viewpoint and an issue location at the selected point.
Conflict pins
Conflict pins indicate the location of active conflicts that are linked to Smart Issues. They provide a visual overview of where active conflicts are located within the model and help identify areas where coordination issues are concentrated.
The following conflict types are supported:
Conflicts
Duplicate conflicts
IDS specification conflicts
Distance conflicts
Each active conflict is displayed at its own location in the model. If a Smart Issue contains multiple conflicts, the Smart Issue will be represented by multiple conflict pins.
Displaying pins in the WebViewer
Show or hide pins
To show or hide all pins, click on the Hide Issue button in the issue menu.
Filtering pins
Pin visibility is linked to the issue list. When filters are applied to the issue list, only pins associated with the filtered results remain visible in the model.
⚠️ Attention: The visibility of conflict pins depends on the filters applied to their associated Smart Issue in the list. If a Smart Issue is excluded by the current filters, its conflict pins will not be displayed.
Pin clustering
When multiple pins are located close together, they may be grouped into a single marker. The number displayed in the marker indicates how many pins are included in the cluster. As you zoom in, clustered pins separate into their individual locations.
