When a component is selected in BIMcollab Zoom, the Properties panel provides a structured overview of all non-graphical information associated with that element.
The available tabs and properties depend on the information contained in the IFC file. The panel can include a Summary tab, a Material tab, and separate tabs for the IFC property sets assigned to the component.
The Summary tab
The Summary tab brings togetehr the key properties of the selected component in one overview.
Depending on the available, it can includes:
Model - the source model file the component belongs to.
Name - the component's IFC name.
Type - the IFC element type.
Material name - the material or materials assigned to the component.
GUID - the globally unique identifier.
Some expert properties can be hidden in Settings.
📝 Note: A complete list of supported properties on the Summary tab is available for download in this attachment: BIMcollab ZOOM_PropertyReferenceGuide.pdf
Material tab
Material tab displays material information assigned to the selected component. Each material appears as a collapsible group, showing its properties below.
Each material constituent is listed as a separate group and can include:
Name - the material name.
Category - a material attribute available in IFC 4 and 4.3.
Fraction - the proportional share of the material within the element.
Material properties -additional properties from IfcMaterialProperties, such as thermal or environmental data, shown within the material group.
📝 Note: For IFC 4 and 4.3 files, BIMcollab Zoom supports materials defined using IfcMaterialConstituentSet . This material format is used by Revit 2025 and later when exporting to IFC 4. Material information defined in this way is supported from BIMcollab Zoom 9.9 onward.
Property set tabs
Each IFC property set assigned to a component appears as a separate tab in the Properties panel. Because property sets are defined in the IFC file, the available tabs and their contents can differ between components and models.
These tabs can contain:
Standard IFC property sets, such as
Pset_WallCommon.Custom property sets created in the authoring application.
Property sets created by Zoom's Smart properties.
If a property set is not assigned to the selected component, no tab is displayed for it.
Using properties in model checking workflows
Properties in the Properties panel are available across BIMcollab Zoom's model checking tools:
Smart Views - filter and color components based on material name, category, or any property set value
Lists - extract and export property data including material information
IDS validation - validate material facets against Information Delivery Specifications
💡 Tip: Right-click any property value in the Properties panel to access quick actions such as Filter similar, Show similar, and Hide similar.
