Which file types are supported in the Autodesk integrations?

Learn which file types are supported in Autodesk integrations across BIMcollab workflows, including Forma, Forge Viewer, and Zoom..

There are three ways to view Autodesk models in BIMcollab, each with different file support and capabilities:

  1. Autodesk Forma integration (via the Documents tab)
In this workflow, any file type can be opened in the Documents tab. However, only IFC and RVT files can be viewed in the WebViewer and BIMcollab Zoom. NWD files are not supported for viewing in this workflow.
In this version, these models can be shared between the WebViewer and Zoom in a connected workflow, allowing you to move seamlessly between both applications.

  2. Forge Viewer integration (in the WebViewer)
This integration supports IFC, RVT, and NWD files. However, it does not provide a direct connection to BIMcollab Zoom, which requires a different model setup.

  3. BIMcollab Zoom only (local files or shared project folders)

When working solely in Zoom, only IFC files are supported. You can open these files through the project folder integration with Autodesk Desktop App.

💡 Tip: For projects that involve coordination across multiple tools, the Autodesk Forma integration offers a more connected workflow. It keeps model data linked with BIMcollab Zoom or collaboration tools, while maintaining project context directly within the BIMcollab space.

It also supports automatic versioning, with subsequent updated versions, reducing manual file handling and ensuring a clear version history.
