Use reports to create a backup of your issues

The best way to create a backup is to generate a report with all the issues, including history, into a PDF, XLSX, CVS, or BCF file.

Updated over 4 months ago

As a project leader, go to the Issues page of your project and set up a filter for the issues you want to export. Editors and Reviewers in the project also have the ability to create reports.

After filtering or selecting the desired issues, click the 'Report' button.

When creating a report from the Issues page, a dialog window will appear that allows you to choose the type of report you want to create. Also, choose the file a name that the exported file will receive.

  1. When choosing the PDF format, the active view on your screen is used (tile view or list view). Choose to include the issue history and change-logs to have all information.

  2. When choosing the BCF format, you can choose the version of BCF you want to export. The most recent version is BCF 2.1, which can be used to access the individual issues, including the viewpoints.

  3. When choosing the Excel format, you can choose to include the issue history and change-logs to have all information.

  4. When choosing the CSV format, you can choose to download all the column options available when viewing issues in list view, or only those that you have selected to be visible.

The created report can then be downloaded from the 'Reports' view mode on the issues page.

A report will take a few moments to be generated, and once the Status reads 'Ready', it can then be downloaded.

⚠️ Attention: When exporting BCF files, the following data from BIMcollab is not supported:

  • Area

  • Custom fields

  • Change log

  • Visibility

  • Smart Issues
