Use a project as a template

Use the setup of your current project as a template to create a new project in BIMcollab.

Updated over 3 months ago

When creating a new project in BIMcollab, you can use a project template or another project as a Template. This copies the project settings to your new project. You can enable different options to copy exactly the settings you need in your new project:

  • Team members

  • Areas

  • Milestones

  • BIM requirements.
The BIM requirements include Smart Views, Clash rules, and List definitions added to the shared folders of the project for the BIMcollab Zoom.

📝 Note:

  • If the use of project templates is enforced in the space, all the users will need to choose from one of the templates available while creating a new project.

  • If the use of project templates is not enforced in the space, all the users will be able to use any existing templates, create a new template, or create a project without using a template. But! Administrators are always able to choose from all the options.

See Create a new template to find out more about creating and enforcing templates.

Labels, types, groups, and priorities, as well as the custom and mandatory fields, will always be copied along with the project. If necessary, these settings can be edited later on the Settings page of the project.

When you work with company standards for all or some of these values, set up a template project to use specifically for this purpose.
